Adelante Community Developmnet (ACD) is a non-profit organization serving the Adams County Latino Small Businss owners. ACD is a group of community leaders and small business owners organized in strategic partnership to advance small business onwership opportunties for Latinios in Adams County.
ACD was started by Maria Gonzalez, a lifetime community leader and owner of Gonzalez Insurance Group in Commerce City. Maria has worked tirelssly to provide the leadership, empowerment and linkages that the Latino small business owners need to further their entrepernuial goals. In October 2010 Maria invited a small group of business owners to join her in hosting a one time meeting with Commerce City governemnt to address the needs and desires of the small businesses. After this meeting Maria realized that there were serious work need in the business communty. Therefore, she created a bi-monthly business workshops under the name of Minority Businesss Assocation. After the tremendous success Maria created a board of directors and together renamed the group to Adelante Community Development and become the first Adams County non-profit association helpint monolingual Spanish-speaking business owners to succeed. ACD now meets on a monthly basics and is now providing services throughout Adams county. ACD is engaged in continual dialogue with Commerce City government about increasing support for small business development and procurement opportunities for people of color and especially for Latinos.
